M/Y Babbo is more than just an explorer yacht: she is the embodiment of a family’s vision
Conceived by three brothers who wanted a true home at sea, Babbo was born from years of experience aboard their previous Darwin 102. As their family grew, so did their desire for more space and comfort, but without losing the intimacy and understated elegance they valued.
Designer Francesco Paszkowski conceived an aesthetic that fuses architectural rigour with softness, creating a yacht that embodies both structural strength and elegance. Babbo’s bold bow and muscular profile speak of endurance and capability, while her elongated windows and elegant deck overhangs soften the lines, bringing light and openness inside.
Babbo has a total length shy of 43 metres, a length at water level of 39.30 metres, and a max beam of 8.67 metres, she has three decks (plus a Sun deck) one of which – the Main deck – has a wide body configuration from midship forward. Her Gross tonnage is 476GT. These data are pivotal in conveying the yacht’s proportions – essentially, her overall body configuration. The resulting image is that of an imposing yacht with generous volumes that accommodate equally spacious interiors.
The interiors are deliberately timeless and welcoming — sophisticated without being showy, comfortable enough for family life yet polished enough for refined cruising. There is no grand “owner’s suite,” because for these brothers, the yacht is a shared sanctuary, a place for togetherness where no one’s comfort takes priority over another’s.
Social spaces flow naturally from indoors to out, with expansive decks, a multi-level beach club, and inviting salons that encourage gathering, dining, or quiet moments by the sea.
Behind her graceful appearance lies serious engineering. Hydro Tec’s naval architecture ensures that Babbo is not only efficient but also seaworthy in all conditions. Her optimized hull reduces drag and fuel consumption, giving her an impressive autonomy of over 5,000 nautical miles at a steady cruising speed. This makes her as capable of crossing oceans as she is of exploring remote anchorages, always with stability and comfort.
At the CdM shipyard, Babbo was crafted with the same philosophy of strength and reliability. From the steel and aluminium structure to the advanced technical systems, every detail was built to endure demanding voyages. Noise and vibration are kept remarkably low, enhancing comfort on board, while modest yet efficient twin Caterpillar C32 746kW engines paired with large fuel tanks give her both range and environmental responsibility.
In the end, Babbo is a yacht that brings together bold exploration and intimate family living. She is a vessel of shared experiences, understated elegance, and enduring strength. The perfect expression of a family’s dream to turn the sea into their home.
